Brief Biography
Sanjay completed his MD at The University of Toronto in 1995 and postgraduate training in pediatrics at The Hospital for Sick Children in 1999. He was appointed on staff in the Division of Paediatric Medicine in 1999. He completed an MSc in Health Research Methods (Clinical Epidemiology) in 2010 at McMaster University. He was appointed Associate Professor in 2011.
Research Interests
Broadly, Sanjay's research interests involve outcomes research relevant to inpatient general pediatric practice using epidemiologic methods and qualitative research methods. Areas of focus have included:
- Common pediatric inpatient conditions such as urinary tract infections and pneumonia
- Outcomes following enteral feeding interventions in children with neurologic disabilities
- Shared-decision making around health care interventions
- Clinical excellence and medical expertise
Sanjay is involved with the development and advancement of research within the pediatric hospitalist field. He is an executive council member for the Pediatric Research in Inpatient Network PRIS.

Sanjay is the Associate Program Director for the Academic General Pediatrics Fellowship.
Clinical Care Activities
Sanjay is attends on the Pediatric Medicine Inpatient Unit. His ambulatory work involves children with medical complexity. Sanjay also leads a unique collaboration around clinical care between General Pediatric Hospitalists and Interventional Radiologist. He is Co-Director of the Vascular Tumors clinic.
