SickKids research chief available to comment on federal budget
Manuel Buchwald, OC, PhD, FRSC, Chief of Research at The Hospital for Sick Children, will be available for media interviews in response to the federal budget being released this afternoon.
The Hospital for Sick Children will be reviewing Monday's budget hoping to see increased funding for health research and an expanded funding formula to recognize the full costs of research to the host institution.
As the leader of the largest hospital-based research facility in Canada, Dr. Buchwald has been a strong advocate for Canadian health research. He will be available to comment on the benefits of continued investment in health research, such as the translation of new discoveries into improved patient care, the strengthening of this country's ability to attract and retain the brightest minds, and ensuring Canada's competitiveness in a knowledge-based economy.
