Description of Position:

You will provide senior secretarial and administrative support the Heart Centre Research Support Group and the Cardiovascular Clinical Research Unit.  Your responsibilities will include:
• Scheduling and confirming appointments as required;
• scheduling meetings and travel arrangements;
• typing, proofreading and distributing reports, correspondence, forms, etc. of a specialized and confidential nature;
• organizing and maintaining files of records;
• planning events;
• preparing expense reports;
• performing basic accounting functions (e.g. analyzing fund reports and following up on discrepancies);
• administering paperwork for new hires;
• performing Medline/library searches;
• coordinating and preparing some aspects of research, grant submissions to funding agency;
• coordinating and preparing research manuscript submissions;
• maintaining and updating electronic Curriculum Vitae of staff;
• general office duties such as photocopying, faxing, typing, mail sorting, filing, obtain signatures etc and interacting with other SickKids departments; and
• all other secretarial/clerical duties as required by the supervisor and staff.

Qualifications:

You are a professional, detail oriented individual with exceptional communication, organization and time management skills. You have demonstrated excellence in organizing and prioritizing workflow.  You are self-directed, proactive and take initiative as required.  You work well in a team environment and can develop and maintain a professional working relationship with members of the department.

You are a graduate of a recognized secretarial or related program and you bring a minimum of three years experience in a similar role. You are proficient with Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel and PowerPoint), McIntosh and Adobe software (e.g. Acrobat) or comparable packages.
