Volunteer Resources

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). At SickKids, there are volunteer placements working with children, their families, and helping staff with administrative duties and on occasion special projects.

Candidates must meet the following requirements for these programs:

General Requirements:
 Must be resident in Canada for a minimum of one year to have established references, a Criminal Record Check and a Vulnerable Sector Search
 Must have a good command of the English language, both verbal and written
 Must be able to provide documented proof of TB/Immunization compliance by SickKids standards
 Must possess a high level of maturity in order to meet the unique needs of our patients, families and staff

Full Year Program
□ Must be 18 years of age or older
□ Must be able to make a one-year commitment
□ Able to commit to the same day each week for one three-hour shift per week.

Summer Program
□ Must be 16 years of age or older
□ Must be able to make a one month commitment (May, June, July or August)
□ Able to commit to the same three-hour shift each day, Monday to Friday

Consistent Care Program
□ Must be 18 years of age or older
□ Must be able to commit to two or more three-hour shifts a week for a one-year period
□ Must be able to meet specific requirements as outlined on the volunteer postings

Special Projects
□ Must be 18 years of age or older
□ Must be able to meet specific requirements as outlined on the volunteer postings

Student Placements
□ All student placements are arranged through the appropriate department in participating schools

Throughout the year, Volunteer Resources posts opportunities that become available. For our Summer Program we begin posting early in the New Year. Please keep a watchful eye on find  volunteer opportunities. If there are no current postings, please continue to check back.
