About Dr. Kathryn Parker
Dr. Kathryn Parker joined the Learning Institute as an Educator/Evaluator in 2008.
She received her PhD at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto in 2006. Her doctoral work focused on the development of an enhanced model for program evaluation which examines the value of measuring cognitive “readiness” when determining the merit of a continuing education program. She received her Master of Arts in Measurement and Evaluation from OISE in 1999.
Kathryn has presented her work at various national and international conferences. She has also conducted numerous workshops on statistical techniques, research methodologies, needs assessment in continuing education, outcome measurement, measuring readiness to change and program evaluation.
Kathryn’s work here in the Learning Institute involves the development of innovative assessment and evaluation frameworks and tools in the area of interprofessional education, developmental evaluation and program theory-driven evaluation. She also collaborates with numerous academic groups external to Sick Kids to facilitate and direct program evaluation efforts. These groups include the University of Toronto’s Global Health Education Institute and the Department of Family and Community Medicine, George Brown College, and the Michener Institute where she served for seven years as the Senior Director, Scholarship, Assessment and Evaluation. Her primary interests include the cognitive/affective determinants of change, innovative methods of program evaluation and impact assessment of continuing education in the applied health professions. She is also an Evaluation Advisor to the Centre for Interprofessional Education at the University of Toronto.
