Reaching out with research
New discoveries are made through research. These new discoveries are often shared in scientific publications, and with other researchers, to encourage collaborations and plans for future research. At SickKids, researchers recognize that there are many groups with whom it's important to share and discuss new findings. In addition to other researchers, these groups include: parents, health-care professionals, policy makers and society as a whole.
It's important to communicate research findings in ways that encourage each group to understand and use this information to improve health and health-care services. For example, parents should be aware of the most current research to advocate on behalf of their children and health providers need be aware of the most of the recent research that impacts the way they deliver health care.
In this section SickKids researchers will share their research in ways that everyone can understand, learn and benefit from the new research discoveries. It's in this way that SickKids seeks to build on research discoveries and encourage their use in the real world.
