- Uses symbolic activities to elicit patient concerns about the hospital experience.
- Helps clarify any concerns about the intended treatment plan.
- Operates and supervises the playrooms which are open to all patients.
- Observes the children to determine the developmental appropriateness of psychosocial behaviour, coping and parent/child relationships.
- Provides family support and education.
- Provides diversional entertainment.
