About the Research Training Centre (RTC)
The Research Training Centre (RTC) was established in 1996 in response to a need for a more coordinated and integrated approach to research training at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). The RTC aims to understand the various challenges of those training at SickKids and works with existing trainees to support and improve their research training experiences.
Trainees include both Graduate Students and Research Fellows conducting research at the hospital. The RTC supports trainees who are presently working at SickKids by:
- maintaining a trainee registry
- coordinating research training competitions
- running career-building seminars, and
- organizing research training activities and events
RTC activities are managed by a committee of representatives from various SickKids academic training programs. There is representation from all Research Institute Programs, Clinical Programs, the SickKids Foundation, Public Affairs and the trainee population.
