Fundraising 2008

September 2008

Laughing with the Ladybugs was such a wonderful success last year that the event organizers decided to host the event again this year. This event helps raise SickKids’ profile in the Peterborough area. The dinner, silent and live auction as well as unique comic entertainment were all held in honour of Kathryn Peeters’. The event celebrates the milestone of Kathryn’s diagnosis and her life living with a brain tumour and got its unique name because of Kathryn’s love of ladybugs. Kathryn’s family is so elated and grateful that Kathryn adds so much sunshine and laughter to their lives.

The 4th Annual Walk For Grace Fundraiser Ian Stanley and Lesly Compagnon began a walk for their daughter, Grace, while she was still alive, shortly after her diagnosis, in 2005. The walk has been held annually since then. At the third annual walk for Grace in '07 over $27,000 was raised with 120 participants corporate sponsors, most notably Bayer Healthcare. In 2008, approximately $23,000 with 150 participants was raised. In addition, in 2008, a golf tourney was added to the fundraising efforts which raised over $16,000 Grace's fund is now approaching $100,000 since it's inception in 2005. Please feel free to visit Grace's website at www.gracestanley.org to learn more information about the incredible life and story of Grace Stanley.
