Speakers' Bureau

The Speakers' Bureau is one of the first activities to be launched by Kids Science. This activity connects SickKids volunteer scientists, trainees, and technicians with students in both middle and high schools. Volunteers travel to these schools to share their personal experiences along with their enthusiasm and love for science. These presentations also provide hands-on scientific experiments and demonstrations for the youth.

Speakers' Bureau Volunteers
SickKids has compiled a list, ever growing, of world renowned scientists who would be keen to give presentations in the Speakers' Bureau. In addition to talks given by our more senior scientists, we will also arrange for visits by our more junior trainees, namely graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Because these research trainees are closer in age to the targeted students, we anticipate that the high school students connect with these researchers and be inspired by them. The volunteers are all recruited from SickKids, but eventually we hope to expand the program to include volunteers from outside the hospital.
