Hypothyroidism in Pregnancy, Issues, Controversies, and Offspring Outcome

Objectives:

  1. To review past literature on outcome
  2. To examine thyroid hormones effects in the developing brain
  3. To discuss current issues and controversies on maternal hypothyroidism
  4. To describe ongoing research program related to maternal hypothyroidism in the Rovet lab, with special emphasis on recent structural and functional neuroimaging studies

Dr. Rovet is a neuropsychologist and neuroscientist who has been at SickKids since 1975. Her affiliations are with the Division of Endocrinology and Pharmacology (Motherisk). Her research focus is on prenatal determinants of brain abnormalities in children.
